As part of this successful, global organisation, the European business division now requires an experienced Cost Engineer, who will have responsibility for building and maintaining product cost database, providing accurate cost estimations to ensure that product cost targets are achieved. The business has operational activities throughout various market regions within Europe, Middle East, India and Africa, generating a multi-billion pound annual turnover from some of today?s most recognised brands. There will be an element of flexible/ remote working with this role. The Role: Reporting to the Director & COO of the business division, as the Cost Engineer for the region, you would act as an expert in electronic product design, advising on manufacturing engineering, manufacturability and costs. Your role will aim to drive faster learning curve effects and cost down. In addition, as the Cost Engineer you will be responsible for, but not limited to: building and maintaining product cost database and providing accurate cost estimations to ensure that product cost targets are achieved supporting R&D with cost specialist knowledge when evaluating and selecting technical concepts and coordinating functional input into engineering product cost estimations and calculations during early designs working closely throughout the design lifecycle with suppliers and contract electronic manufacturers to define transparent costed BOMs and to help purchasing functions to drive down Cost of Goods early definition of manufacturing process flows for manufacturability and product cost calculations during design acting as communicator between Commercial, Purchasing, Logistics, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. Operating at a strategic level, as the Cost Engineer you will be required to devise, implement and influence at all levels throughout the region. The Candidate: Ideally of graduate standard, from within an engineering, electronics or technical based discipline, candidates for the role of Cost Engineer will also be required to demonstrate that they have: previous work experience in the same or similar cost engineer role, preferably from within the engineering, electronics or manufacturing sectors previous experience and practices of electronics manufacturing, such as PCBAs an understanding of supplier and supply chain manufacturing capabilities the ability to determine manufacturing strategies and create product costing of electronics designs experience of reporting on cost validations, opportunities and risks Candidates for the Cost Engineer role should also be: pro-active and results driven, with a strong commitment to success a hands-on type individual, who demonstrates initiative and has a professional outlook a strong and capable leader, with the presence and ability to communicate, motivate and influence at the highest level able to work as part of a team or under their own initiative, who is used to multi-tasking and can prioritise their workload to meet exacting deadlines analytical with excellent attention to detail experienced in working on a pan-European / international business basis able to interpret complex, international organisations and successfully build an internal network Candidates for the Cost Engineer role should note that there will be some travel throughout the European region with this role.
