Domestic Services Manager Starting Salary 36,196 - 45,589 per annum MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), Cambridge is an internationally recognised scientific research institute. We recognise the value of good quality cleaners and employ our own staff to ensure that the work is completed to a high standard. We are looking to recruit a Domestic Services Manager to contribute to the smooth running of the domestic service functions at the LMB. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, totalling 36 hours per week and requires some flexibility in working hours due to the majority of the team starting work early each morning. You will provide day-to-day management, direction, guidance and support for more than 20 Domestic Services Assistants, as well as a Supervisor, to ensure that the required cleaning services are delivered effectively and to the appropriate standards across the LMB site. You will be responsible for both general and specialist (chemical, biological, radiation, sharps) waste management, delivering a pro-active service that ensures that waste streams are managed in accordance with appropriate legislation and the waste hierarchy, maximising recycling and re-use where possible. You will also manage departmental consumables and the maintenance/servicing of departmental equipment. You should be educated to degree level (or possess equivalent experience), with experience managing a team within the cleaning/domestic services sector. You will also have proven experience of all major cleaning processes, safe use of various types of cleaning machinery, and good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and legislation within the domestic services environment. You will possess good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. This position would be suited to applicants who have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, the ability to motivate and encourage staff and excellent oral and written communication skills. You will be able to work efficiently and effectively on your own, with minimal managerial direction, and possess the ability to plan and prioritise your workload and manage resources. You should be able to work well under pressure, make decisions/solve problems and have a proven ability to bring teams together.
