Description This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with Rebecca Williams in our Complex Injury Claims Team dealing with large loss claims and Catastrophic Injury claims value between 100k and 5m. In this role you will assist a lead lawyer on more complex claims as well as running your own multi-track EL/PL and RTA caseload. Experience of indemnity, liability and complex medical issues is preferred and excellent attention to detail essential. The role also includes the need to engage with sophisticated senior claims handlers in long-standing insurance clients. In this role you may also be required to assist your Lead Lawyer in activities which enhance and develop Keoghs? profile. Key Responsibilities You will work as part of a team progressing each file from receipt of papers from the insurer client to resolution of the claim dealing with all aspects of liability and quantum as well as indemnity issues as they arise. The role will include: Managing a small caseload of complex injury claims consisting of claims typically valued up to 250k. Working with the Lead Lawyer to manage high value complex and catastrophic claims including brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, chronic pain and fatal claims. Communicating with sophisticated insurer clients, advising them on all aspects of claims and keeping them updated as the matter progresses. Developing relationships with Keoghs? clients in order to attract work on an instruction by instruction basis. Drafting all pleadings to include defences and counter schedules in complex cases. Forensic analysis of voluminous liability and quantum evidence, identifying anomalies and other relevant information across various sources and categories of evidence. Drafting concise technical advice on all aspects of claim handling to include indemnity, liability, quantum, causation and strategy. Building rapport with solicitors for other parties in order to engage meaningfully with them to progress the matter to conclusion and achieve excellent results for our clients. Attending site visits, MDT meetings, client meetings, mediation and JSMs. Engaging with counsel and experts in conference and on the telephone. Delivery of agreed performance targets and quality standards. Dealing with costs budgets in conjunction with costs lawyers. Responsibility for a caseload of up to c.15 large loss files. Delegation to more junior members of the team and be fully engaged in their development in terms of technical ability and achievement of objectives. Maintaining case managements systems with up to date management information for clients. To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations Working Hours 28-35 hours per week, Monday ? Friday 9am ? 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location for this role is Coventry Office although working remotely via other Keoghs offices would be considered. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Qualified solicitor, CILEX or proven relevant legal experience is essential High value multi track file handling experience. Positive, confident and enthusiastic.
