Job Description - Senior Composites Laminator Team Lead
Easy Composites is a leader in the manufacture and supply of advanced composites materials and equipment. We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Composites Laminator to join an exciting new project team within our growing business, based in Stoke on Trent, UK. Job Description As the senior hands-on role within a new production team, the successful candidate will have extensive practical composites experience, including prepreg laminating of components and tooling, and will oversee the training and work of junior colleagues. Experience and skills in all aspects of laminating and vacuum bagging of prepreg carbon/glass fibre components and tooling is essential, whilst wider composites experience including trimming, finishing, bonding, resin infusion, casting, pressing, RTM and hand layup would all be an advantage. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have worked in a fast-paced, industrial, advanced composites setting, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets whilst upholding the highest standards of quality and safety. The role will be challenging and engaging, involving varied practical work, team-supervision, problem solving, process refining and significant up-scaling. Key Responsibilities Laminating prepreg and glass fibre components and tooling. Vacuum bagging components and tooling for oven and autoclave cure. Flatting, sealing, finishing and preparing patterns and moulds. Trimming, finishing and assembling components. Communicating with the design, engineering and management team. Interpreting engineering drawings and technical instructions. Overseeing and ensuring efficiency across the full production team. Training and supervising junior production colleagues. Upholding the highest standards of workplace organisation and safety. Monitoring and accurately maintaining inventory. Troubleshooting production/quality issues. Accurately completing work, maintenance and quality reports. Experience & Requirements Extensive experience working in an advanced composites production environment. Highly proficient in prepreg laminating and vacuum bagging, including tooling. Skilled and experienced in the use of tools such as DA sanders, polishers Knowledge and experience of health and safety and quality procedures. Knowledge of a wide range of composite materials and production processes Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. This is a practical, hands-on role which will involve being on your feet most of the day. Driving licence (preferred) Employment Details Salary circa 40,000 per year, depending upon experience. The position is full time (37.5hrs/week) and permanent. Based in our modern industrial unit in Stoke-on-Trent. Working hours are Mon-Fri, 8am to 4pm. Potential for overtime. Company pension.
